ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

BOURNEMOUTH Exercise & Training Area

Airsoft sites, when managed poorly, have the potential to have a severe negative impact on the environment.  The operation at CONTACT FRONT’s Bournemouth site involves a huge wildlife management and conservation program behind the scenes that most players aren’t aware of.  We regularly commission ecological surveys which are submitted to Dorset East planning, which ultimately demonstrated a positive impact over the course of 6 years of operating.  Mitigating use of the land to create a positive impact requires more than simply keeping the land free of litter and using biodegradable products. Client numbers and use of the terrain is heavily factored into the planning of every event run, to ensure that footfall is evenly distributed across the site and that areas are rotated.  Enhancing the area comes from a variety of programs but focus primarily on:

- Heathland restoration

- Ditch Management

- Clearance of invasive species

- Habitat enhancement of bats & birds

- Responsible use of the area, minimising noise and physical disturbance.

The most important policies being:

- BIODEGRADABLE PRODUCTS - ACTIVE ENHANCEMENT OF THE AREA -

- MINIMAL NOISE LEVELS - STRICT HOURS OF USE - LITTER FREE -

- REGULAR ECOLOGY SURVEYS-

Use of this wonderful area of green belt has come about after a successful planning application, which saw approval from:

- Natural England

- Dorset Countrysides

- Dorset Wildlife Trust

- RSPB

- Dorset Police

Our Environmental Work

Enhancement to the area to date has consisted of installation of bat and bird boxes, reptile refuges, heathland restoration, restoration of former areas of hardstanding, nurturing of wetland areas and rhododendron clearance.  Biodegradability of products is an important factor with plastic contamination of oceans and inland areas being such a severe and current problem.  All ammunition and pyrotechnics used are certified as biodegradable and the ethos we instil into our clients is that of responsible use the area. We dedicate a minimum of 30 days per year to wildlife management and conservation to ensure the sustainable long term use of our site and this is something our clients like to get involved with too.  If you’d like to assist with conservation days, contact us to find out more!
