Course Overview

The First Aid at Work (FAW) course provides comprehensive training for individuals responsible for workplace first aid in higher-risk environments or larger organisations.

This three-day qualification equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to respond confidently to a wide range of workplace medical emergencies.

Learners will gain hands-on experience in managing incidents including injuries, illness, unconscious casualties and cardiac emergencies until professional medical help arrives.

This qualification meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations for workplaces that require fully trained first aid personnel.

This course includes:

Certification

First Aid at Work (FAW) certificate issued through WorkSafe Training Systems and recognised for workplace first aid training in accordance with current HSE guidance.

What You Will Learn

During the course learners will develop the skills required to manage a wide range of workplace medical situations.

  • Roles and responsibilities of a workplace first aider
  • Assessing emergency situations and casualty care
  • CPR and use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED)
  • Managing unconscious casualties
  • Treating wounds, bleeding and shock
  • Managing fractures, sprains and soft tissue injuries
  • Recognising and responding to medical conditions including heart attack, stroke and seizures
  • Recording and reporting incidents

Course Requirements

Learners must be aged 16 or over to attend this course.

Participants must be able to take part in practical exercises including CPR and casualty management.

A good understanding of spoken and written English is required as the course includes written assessments and practical demonstrations.

Certification & Accreditation

Successful learners receive the First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification certified through WorkSafe Training Systems.

Certificates are valid for 3 years and are widely recognised by employers across the UK.

The qualification meets current Health and Safety Executive (HSE) workplace first aid guidance.
